One of the most striking car accessories ever produced has to be the car spoiler. We’ve all seen spoilers in one form or another, typically the big ones on Formula 1 cars are the ones that immediately spring to mind. However, there are numerous types, sizes and styles of spoilers that can have one or more purposes. Originally the purpose was to provide down-force for the car. The basic principle is that the wind rushes over the car, hits the spoiler and then pushes the car into the tarmac. While the need for a spoiler may previously have been an aerodynamic requirement, today’s needs are often quite different.
A lot of spoilers fitted to modern cars are primarily fitted for the look that they bring to a car. They help to make it look faster and sportier. Obviously, they will bring some down- force improvements, but this is not always their primary purpose. Probably the most famous example of a spoiler being used for visual enhancements would be the ‘whale-tail’ spoiler that was fitted to numerous Ford Escorts during the 1990s. This type of spoiler was originally fitted to the phenomenally quick Ford Escort RS Cosworth, its purpose here was definitely for down-force. A lot of modifiers quickly chose to enhance the look of their low powered standard Escorts by adding this type of spoiler.
Car spoilers available from Demon Kar can certainly help to enhance the look of any car. They’re fabulous car accessories that can dramatically alter a car’s appearance.
