Looking After Your Wing Mirrors

April 4th, 2011

Wing mirrors are very exposed on cars, meaning that people driving recklessly or carelessly, or even people walking along the pavement can easily damage them simply by not paying attention. On top of this, they tend to be a great target for vandals who will happily knock them clean off just for a laugh.

There is unfortunately fairly little than can be done about such things, although the first step to take is to ensure that you always tuck in your wing mirrors when you are not using the car. If they are tucked in, this doesn’t just mean that people are far less likely to damage them accidentally, but also that impetuous vandals won’t be inspired to knock them off and will instead pass them by.

There is also another thing that can be done though. Checking to see if your insurance covers wing mirror damage can help you save a certain amount of money should you find you have to replace one or both of them.

Finally, looking after them might simply involve looking into getting new ones. This may seem strange, but a wing mirror can totally alter the look of the car whilst also being extremely necessary for safety. Therefore, if yours are not in optimum condition, changing them can help you ensure that they look after you too, whilst also vastly improving the look of your vehicle.

On top of this many of the new ones will have indicator lights incorporated into them, meaning that you bolster safety and efficiency in another way too.

It may not always be practical to ensure they are totally safe from damage, but making sure you know that you have done all you can and are able to quickly change them should they be damaged should mean that you have a car looking as good as possible that is as safe as possible.

Adjusting Car Wing Mirrors

February 14th, 2011

Wing mirrors may need to be adjusted now and again to ensure they are in the right position for a driver to have a clear view of the road behind them.

Car wing mirrors in the correct position should enable a driver to see the widest possible viewpoint of the road behind. If a driver cannot see a lot when looking in the wing mirrors, they will need to be adjusted before even setting off on the road.

A lot of drivers may get confused about how exactly they should adjust wing mirrors. By having the right knowledge and with a little practice, they will be able to avoid the risk of being involved in an accident.

When a driver looks in an interior rear view mirror, they should be able to see the rear view window of the car perfectly. If they cannot see the window then the mirror needs to be adjusted.

The exterior mirrors should help a driver see as much of the road behind them as possible. Some drivers adjust them so they can see the sides of the car however this can very often create blind spots and may prevent them from seeing enough of the road to ensure they are driving safely. It is often better to adjust the mirrors so the driver can see a little beyond the sides of the car.

Drivers should place their heads against the window and adjust their mirror until they can see a little beyond the side of the car. For the other side of the car, move across until the head is in the centre of the car and look in the other mirror. If the driver cannot see the other side of the car in the mirror then it needs to be adjusted.

Remember you are only adjusting the wing mirror glass using either,  the joystick or electric switch, inside your car.

Clipping Your Wing Mirror

November 9th, 2010

It’s probably the most annoying of all vehicular incidents and it happens every single day. Whether you’re reversing out of a tight space, squeezing through a gap in traffic or packing in your own front drive, most people are familiar with the clunk-crack sound that means your wing mirror has made contact with a solid object. The best case scenario is that the casing has cracked and a bit of masking tape will do the job, but in the worst case your mirror will be lying detached from your vehicle, two hundred metres down the road.

If this all sounds horribly familiar you’ll also probably know that getting your wing mirror replaced is a highly annoying task – you can’t drive without two fully functioning mirrors but its such a small thing to go and fix, usually with a large garage bill attached.

The good news is, a trip to the mechanic is probably not necessary – unless you’ve done some serious damage to the wing of your car you can probably find the replacement parts you need on-line at a bargain price. For instance, if you’ve cracked your wing mirror glass but the rest of the mirror is fine, you can avoid a full replacement by tracking down stick-on wing mirror glass, which you simply need to place on top of the original glass using an strong adhesive patch. if the mirror is beyond redemption you can also find replacements on-line for almost every make and model of car, and usually at discount prices.

It’s also worth remembering that car wing mirrors don’t just have to be a functional item on your car – if the thought of replacing a broken one is depressing you, look at it as an upgrade: shop for a wing mirror with a chrome finish, or choose a carbon fibre model to toughen up for the next potential bump!

Customizing Your Car

October 24th, 2010

When it comes to customizing a car, great care needs to be taken when choosing the right car accessories. Whilst you may have a vision of how you want it to look when finished, there is no guarantee that you will be able to find exactly what you want. It could be important to accept that you might have to compromise. Yet this doesn’t mean you may not find something you love.

There is a multitude of choice when it comes to buying car accessories to customize your car. The hardest choice will be deciding on how much you want to do. It may be that you want to go for something simple, like buying car seat covers, which will not only add a different touch to your interior, but also add to your comfort when driving. There are also other things to choose from, including steering wheel covers, which can give your dashboard a completely different look at little expense, and could be well matched with the car seat covers.

Beyond this, a driver can go further with car accessories by buying external items. These will not appeal to everyone as many like their car to look fresh from the manufacturers, but some drivers want to give their car some personality and a unique touch. Graphic stickers can do this, not only cheaply, but can also be applied wherever you want. It is important to get the balance right, as too much decoration clustered together in one place may detract from the attractiveness of the individual items. It may be an idea to have something at the front and back of the car, to even each other out, such as LED lights or grid meshes. Whichever accessories you choose, be sure to allow time to evaluate how well they match the model itself.

The Best Car Wing Mirrors

October 13th, 2010

Car wing mirrors are an essential requirement for vehicles and it is important to get the correct type for each motor.Having a wide view of the road helps drivers to avoid accidents and anticipate problems in advance. There are regulations stating that wing mirrors need to be installed in and on vehicles, to reduce road accident fatalities. As their reach extends beyond the body of the car, they are frequently hit and damaged. Some models of car have very basic mirror designs, which tends to mean they are cheap to replace.

On the other hand, technical motors also have hi-tech accessories that are costlier than those found on a conventional type of car. In the past, the important accessories were manoeuvred either by hand or an internal button that allowed drivers to make sure they correctly reflected the surrounding road. Scientists have evolved car wing mirrors so they act as a reflective service, while also providing an alert to other drivers, via integrated indicator light. They tend to be manoeuvred via motors that can be pricey to replace should they be damaged in some way.

Other in-built systems of the wing miror glass ensure that the reflective surface is as clear as possible, as it heats up and gets rid of condensation that may block views of the road.

Flat Tyre

July 26th, 2010

A  puncture that causes a flat tyre can become a major problem especially on the motorway with huge trucks hurtling past you at hundreds of miles per hour while you try to change the tyre. If you are a member of a roadside help service such as the  RAC or AA you can ring and hope it is not too long before they can come and provide assistance.

Their an alternative which is not a permanent repair but can get you home or to the nearest tyre garage. Holts Tyreweld  is an emergency puncture seal and inflator which gets you to your destination at a reduced speed. Holts tyreweld is the only product of  its type officially approved by the National Tyre Distributors Association and the tyre can be repaired after the use of  Tyreweld. Some garages will tell you it cannot be repaired because they don’t like to clean the tyre.

How doest it work? Tyreweld is an aqueous latex emulsion, contained in an aerosol container, propelled by a hydrocarbon propellant. The latex emulsion locates the source of puncture, penetrates the hole, and cures to form a ‘get you home’ repair.

Radaitor Sealer

July 11th, 2010

Not all products sold as car accessories can be considered an accessory some can become a necessity. If your car radiator starts to leak it can become an expensive repair without which you cannot drive the car doing so would cause more damage including damage to the actual engine.

The  most cost effective solution to a leaking radiator is a radaitor sealer. Their are a lot of different brands on the market but one of the best is K-Seal radiator sealer and cooling system repair.  K-Seal is not a quick fix temporary solution but a permanent repair which will last for the life of the engine. The major advantage K-Seal has over other radiator sealers is that it can be mixed with any type of anti-freeze and does not require any preparation so just add to your cooling system and wait for the results.

How does K-Seal work? When their is a leak in the radiaitor this causes a low preesure. K-seal flows to the low pressure and deposits its self their and slowly stops the leak. It is also heat activated and the hotter your coolant becomes the more solid K-seal becomes.

Clean Business

June 30th, 2010

The market for car cleaning products has grown dramatically over the years. As technology has advanced, cleaning products have also improved in their effectiveness. You can now easily find a product in many different forms to satisfy almost any cleaning need. For example, there are interior wipes and interior sprays for cleaning plastic trim, sponges and brushes for washing the exterior, alloy wheel sprays, sponges and brushes, the list is endless.

There is obviously be a demand for these products or manufacturers would not produce them. Most people want to keep their car clean so having the right products for their range of needs is important. As people have been able to afford newer cars and as the quality of cars has improved, this has given people an extra desire to ensure their expensive asset is in good condition. There aren’t many of us who would spend thousands of pounds on a brand new car and then let its condition deteriorate; we’d do everything we could to keep it looking as good as new.

The problem with these cleaning products is that they are expensive. Fortunately, there are much more cost effective solutions out there that can help to keep your car clean. Car mats and car seat covers available from DemonKar are the perfect solution for this problem. They are cheap and can be cleaned over and over again simply using a vacuum cleaner and a washing machine. They can easily be restored to their original condition and will therefore give the interior a new and clean look.

Wing Mirror Advances

June 23rd, 2010

With technology moving at a rapid pace, we take any opportunity to upgrade, refine or improve everything around us. Toothbrushes used to be manual, now they can be electric. Car stereos just used to play cassette tapes, but can now play CDs, DVDs and you can even plug your MP3 player into them. The number of things that has changed over time is almost beyond recognition.

You may not have considered this but car wing mirrors also fall into this category. Originally, they were an unattractive fixed mirror that was purely used for practical reasons. From that came the anti-dazzle mirror, the idea of which was to stop light reflecting off the mirror in a way which may blind yourself or other road users. This idea did work but again was not very practical or attractive. Eventually manufacturers got smarter and created adjustable wing mirrors which allowed adjustment for drivers to be able to view more of what was going on behind them.

Some of the biggest enhancements in wing mirror technology have been very recent. DemonKar now supply car wing mirrors with indicator lights built into them. These wing mirrors further help to increase safety by making a drivers indication even more visible. The more visible a driver is then the less chance there is of an accident. With these types of wing mirrors also being available in a range of attractive colours and styles it’s easy to see just how far the humble wing mirror has developed.

Wipe Your Feet

June 17th, 2010

Car mats have always been a useful addition to a car’s interior. The purpose of car mats is to protect the original carpet from our dirty footwear. For this purpose, car mats work quite well. Your muddy/dirty feet only have to rest on the mat so the rest of the carpet does not get dirty.

Unfortunately, car mats themselves often get dirty as well. Car mats made entirely from carpet are the worst for this. As they are normal carpet, all the mud and dirt can quick get ingrained into the fibre, meaning they have to be removed, cleaned and hovered just as you would with normal carpet. Even after all this cleaning, carpet car mats can still appear grubby as it is nearly impossible to clean every fibre on the mat.

Luckily, not all car mats are exclusively made from carpet. Manufacturers have been clever enough to realise the limitations and the cleaning difficulties associated with carpet car mats. Manufacturers have made several different styles of car mats which still look and feel good but are significantly easier to clean and maintain.

At DemonKar we supply aluminium mats which have no carpet and are therefore easier to clean. Obviously not everyone wants an aluminium plate on the floor of their car, so for those who require a combination of carpet and cleanliness there is the option of a carpet car mat but with a rubber footplate where your feet can rest, meaning all the mud stays on the easy to clean rubber and your carpet stays looking fresh and new.
